We don’t just collect Nurdles, using vacuum allows us to collect plastic DUST too! It’s mind boggling seeing it in person and tried my best to capture it on camera. This is the stuff the filter feeders eat, and it accumulated in extremely high numbers on sandy beaches! Our next cleanup is a PUBLIC one! 🥳 We’re bringing a few vacs, the nurdle machine, and some of our new screeners to Watergate Bay this weekend to tackle the microplastic pollution that washes in there from the open ocean. The beach is a magnet for ocean plastic and it all accumulates at the bottom of the slope, funnelled there by the topography of the cliffs. Wow! What a first day. We went absolutely hell for leather all day clearing Watergate Bay. The nano plastic pollution down here is shocking and through our techniques, we can gather it all as well as the microplastics 😊 the vacuum is the right power just to prise the plastic from the sand and separate it out!
