Your new favorite pottery texture ⬇️ The sodium silicate process is one of my favorite texture techniques in ceramics. After applying white slip mixed with sodium silicate on the outside of a soft cylinder, I let the form rest until the slip has cured enough to begin stretching. Then, using slow, steady pressure, I stretch the walls outward from the inside. The rigid shell fractures and creates these stunning crackle textures. Totally unpredictable, always one of a kind.
